Skills with Ben
If you are an existing active member of Dharma Voyage, you can further your rowing artistry in the boat with Ben Booth, as he shares his expert instruction on both individual skills and team cohesion. Sessions will be tailored to the needs of the crew present with a focus on each rower developing a well-executed stroke and moving in synchrony with other crew members as one. These 1 hour training sessions in Dharma Voyage’s gigs will be available to all current DV rowing members most Thursdays and Saturdays this summer.
The dates for the Skills June - August sessions are:
Thursdays & Saturdays -July - August 31st
July 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27
August 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24
7:00 -8:00 AM & 8:00 -9:00 AM
Price: $27
* Note: The last week of August Thursday - Saturday are reserved for make-up sessions due to cancellations for both Skills and Coastal Rowing.
Sessions will start at 7AM and 8AM each of these days.
In efforts to be fair, August skill session sign-ups will be first made available to the rowing members that did not have a chance to sign up for a session in July. Below are the guidelines and instructions for scheduling and paying for these sessions.
Each existing member of Dharma Voyage can sign up for 1 skills sessions per month.
Each rower is allowed to sign up for more than 1 sessions only if a seat is available 48 hours before a training session.
Refunds are authorized if you cancel your reservation 48 hours or more before your scheduled training session.
Anyone who is cancelling withing the refund time frame is asked to contact an alternate to take the empty slot.
Refunds are put back on the credit card used to pay for the session.
Refunds are not authorized if you cancel your reservation after the 48 hour notice requirement. However, you can swap your reserved spot with another rower, such as an alternate.
All payments must be made online with a credit card and the cost is $27 per session.
If a row is cancelled due to weather or other reason you will receive an email and be automatically refunded.
Coastal Rowing (Sculling) with Ben
If you are an existing active member of Dharma Voyage, you may also learn the intricacies of rowing 2 oars in Dharma Voyage’s coxed coastal ocean rowing quad. Ben Booth offers these classes Friday mornings from 7:00 am – 8:00 am in July and August, at the Llyod Center for the Environment at 430 Potomska Road, Dartmouth. Classes will run only if all 4 seats are filled. Please see these classes listed on Sign Up Genius, where you pay through the app to secure your seat.

Price: $40 (The price is higher due to limited sessions and high demand.)

You must first have secured and paid for a seat in a specific time slot through Signup Genius.
Private Sessions with Ben
Ben will have some limited availability for private lessons, either in small groups or individual sessions. Small groups can be in the dory, gig or coastal quad (sliding-seat, sculling). Individual lessons can either be in a personal boat or one of the available sliding-seat sculling singles. Private sessions will be arranged on an ad hoc basis according to Ben's availability and schedule. These sessions allow individualized coaching and can cover anything from the basics to advanced skills. It is also an opportunity to choose your group - which could be a handful of your favorite rowing mates, a race team, or etc.
